Why Grassroots Sports Advertising Works All Week, Not Just Matchday

football digital adidas

It’s a myth we hear often: that grassroots sports clubs are only busy on weekends, and that advertising inside them is only effective for a couple of hours a week.

It couldn’t be further from the truth.

Our network of posters and digital screens reaches tens of thousands of people every week, not just during a single match window, but throughout the week, in bar areas, lounges, changing rooms and clubhouses that serve as the beating heart of their communities.

These Clubs Are Always On

Grassroots sports clubs aren’t just sports venues: they’re social spaces, training venues, event hubs and local gathering points. Here’s how that breaks down:

  • Football & Rugby Clubs: Training takes place on weekday evenings, often 2–3 times a week as there are so many teams in the larger-than-average clubs we work with, in addition to matchdays. Clubhouses stay open before and after, with players, coaches and volunteers sticking around for food and drinks.
  • Cricket Clubs: In spring and summer, most clubs have games and nets across 4–5 days of the week, especially with youth teams, women’s sides, and midweek fixtures. Clubhouses host bar nights, barbecues and quiz evenings.
  • Bowls Clubs: Perhaps the most active of all, bowls clubs see older adults visiting multiple times a week, sometimes every day, for games, social roll-ups, tea, and chats with friends. Dwell times are long, multiple hours, and so is the attention span.

Real Time on Site, Real Impact

Unlike most ad formats, ours benefit from prolonged dwell time. A player might spend over an hour in a rugby club after training. A bowls member might be on-site for 4 hours. A cricket match could stretch over an entire afternoon and after-match beers in the to late evening.

That’s time where they’re relaxed, in familiar surroundings, and taking in the messages around them, especially when those messages sit next to the bar, inside the changing rooms, or alongside club announcements.

Our Audience Isn’t Passive, They Care

These aren’t distracted eyeballs scrolling through content. These are people who are part of a club. People who know that our advertising supports the place they love, and who look more favourably on brands that support their world.

That’s why our campaign recall rates are through the roof:

It’s not just about views, it’s about what people remember, and what they do next.

Year-Round Relevance

Because our network spans football, rugby, cricket and bowls, it runs across all seasons. As one sport winds down, another ramps up. And now, with 77 digital screens live and growing across all four sports, we’ve created a year-round, multi-sport platform that delivers consistent value: every week, not just matchday.
