Club Support Guide 05

The renewal conversation starts on day one.

Sponsors are more likely to continue when the club makes delivery visible, says thank you properly and gives them a clear view of what their support has helped make possible.

The guide

Retain and renew sponsors in 3 practical moves.

Keep the approach simple. Your aim is to make the club easier to explain, easier to support and easier for volunteers to deliver consistently.

01

Deliver and evidence the promise

Keep a simple record of what was delivered: photos of placement, event mentions, newsletter inclusions, social posts and any introductions or activity connected to the sponsorship.

02

Communicate before the renewal window

Do not wait until the agreement has nearly ended. Start a practical conversation 8 to 12 weeks beforehand, share what has happened and ask what the business would value next season.

03

Make the next agreement easy

Offer a clear continuation route, then one or two useful enhancements. A longer term agreement can create stability for the club and continuity for the sponsor.

Use the resource

Download the tools that make the next step easier.

These original pilot edition resources were developed through Tendring Club Support. Use the parts that fit your club, then adapt the details, pricing and promises to what your volunteers can realistically deliver.

A practical checklist

Before the next committee meeting, do these 4 things.

Use this as a simple action list. You do not need to complete every part of the guide at once.

1Thank sponsors publicly and personally during the season.
2Keep proof photos and examples in one folder.
3Set a renewal date and owner for every sponsor.
4Ask what worked for the business before proposing the next package.

Keep building

One useful change can make the next one easier.

Commercial confidence is not about becoming a sales organisation. It is about making the value already inside the club clearer to members, sponsors, volunteers and the wider community.

Club support

Use the guide, then ask for the next practical step.

Where a club has a specific question around sponsorship, visibility, content or fundraising, send it through. We will give you a clear, no nonsense answer.
