Club Support Guide 01

Most clubs have more to offer sponsors than they first realise.

The starting point is not a price list. It is a clear view of the people, places and moments your club can reliably bring a sponsor into.

The guide

Sponsorship and commercial assets in 3 practical moves.

Keep the approach simple. Your aim is to make the club easier to explain, easier to support and easier for volunteers to deliver consistently.

01

Start with the club environment

Think beyond shirt logos. Clubhouses, bar areas, entrances, noticeboards, team sheets, training nights, fixture communications, award evenings and social channels all create practical opportunities for regular visibility.

02

Explain the job each asset can do

A sponsor is usually looking for one or more of four things: local visibility, association with a trusted club, access to a relevant local audience, or the goodwill that comes from supporting something people care about.

03

Only sell what you can deliver

A smaller package delivered consistently is stronger than a long wish list. Be clear about where a sponsor will appear, how often, who is likely to see it and who inside the club owns delivery.

These original pilot edition resources were developed through Tendring Club Support. Use the parts that fit your club, then adapt the details, pricing and promises to what your volunteers can realistically deliver.

A practical checklist

Before the next committee meeting, do these 4 things.

Use this as a simple action list. You do not need to complete every part of the guide at once.

1List every recurring club space and communication channel.
2Write down who sees it, how often and in what context.
3Group assets into simple sponsor opportunities rather than selling them one by one.
4Remove anything the club cannot confidently deliver all season.

Keep building

One useful change can make the next one easier.

Commercial confidence is not about becoming a sales organisation. It is about making the value already inside the club clearer to members, sponsors, volunteers and the wider community.

Use the guide, then ask for the next practical step.

Where a club has a specific question around sponsorship, visibility, content or fundraising, send it through. We will give you a clear, no nonsense answer.
